Family Support Worker

Bidston Village C.E Primary School
Family Support Worker

Hello! My name is Bev Cowley.

I am the family support worker at Bidston Village.

My role in school is to provide advice, support and information to the families within our school community. I can help you with any worries that you may have in relation to your child’s education, behaviour and wellbeing. I am also here as someone to talk to if you need it!

I can meet with you in school at a time to suit yourself. Advice and support is confidential, although concerns relating to safeguarding of children will always be dealt with in accordance with the school’s Safeguarding Policy. I may not have all the answers but, hopefully, I can help you to work out how to find them.

Support for pupils includes:

Promoting good attendance and punctuality.

Promoting self- esteem and confidence.

Promoting positive behaviour and positive attitudes to learning.

Providing one to one support.

Support for families includes:

Providing information and signposting to other services in the local area.

Liaising with a range of external services such as housing and social care.

Assistance in completing paperwork and forms e.g. housing, benefits etc.

Attendance and support at school and other agency meetings

Advice and support in promoting positive behaviour at home.

Guidance with career and personal development and access to training workshops, in school or online.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you think that I can support you.

If a child is happy and content in their home and school environment, this will have a positive effect on their learning and help them thrive to meet their full potential.

I am contactable directly via the school telephone number 0151 652 0673 (option 2)

Each individual family's identified needs are supported by a keyworker who works alongside children, young people and their families.

Family Matters offer a series of bitesize online sessions covering a wide variety of support strategies all families would find helpful.
